ANP100

During the next 4 weeks we will be looking at Key Frame Animation. This Behance page is intended to be the blog portion of my assessments in ANP100.
Although I will be doing the modules during the weeks my main concern is locking in all aspects of the assessments and uploading them to be ready to submit.
Looking at basic movement I want to set my sights to the sky is the limit attitude and instead of doing a basic ball, perhaps I can find a way to make an animal work? However, maybe not. Let the testing begin!
I have had a search on the internet for basic videos showing the physics of bouncing, rolling and so forth balls to get a better idea of the movements I am expected to create.
My first attempt at animation by dropping the title down the screen and having it bounce back up. It is...not at all appealing. The drop is too slow, the scene wasn't working so it looks like it is bouncing on thin air, the physics don't make sense. It's a great test run and a good example of what NOT to do.
I have created some basic story boards of what I want the animations to look like using Clip Studio.
So, Squash and stretch, yet again not my finest work but I like it. Judging from the first animation I did I have come quite far and I am proud of that. In future I will need to keep an eye on FPS. Shadows were not working in the rendering so I have turned them off for now until I can troubleshoot properly.
Oh my gosh doing the Arch animation was so much fun and I think it turned out great! Look how cute the little fox looks! I still need to work on my timing when it comes to stretch and squish however this is a definite improvement from prior animations.
Ease in & Ease out - this video is probably closer to an example of anticipation however it still shows the ease in/out process. Realizing now that a ball with ears is probably not the best way to showcase something that's supposed to roll with ease. On the next animation I might change the ball to a pumpkin or look at rolling it on the side instead. It was an interesting experience trying to work out the rotation on this one. I have to say I'm really enjoying the outcome of these little animations.
Anticipation - as stated before this example is more like the requirements for ease in/out however I did adjust the little fox to enable it to roll from the side. I am becoming more comfortable with manipulating the little guy however I still am making mistakes in Houdini and, not knowing what I have done wrong nor how to fix it (undo doesn't work for these ones) I have found myself having to close the program and start from my last saved point. At least I am now learning to save periodically.
Space & Timing - at this point it's all just a standard ball rolling how it's supposed to. You can almost combine Ease in/out, anticipation and space/timing into one video as they just flow together. This was the easiest animation to do as it's quite simple. I cant wait to get to more complicated avenues however I am also terrified. Time will tell.
I have created a new intro - I honestly couldn't stand the first one I made. This one is a LOT better and I built up the courage to play with moving multiple parts at once!
Final Assessment Video - Here it is, the final copy of the first assessment. Am I proud? Considering everything that I have gone through recently plus managing to get this out I am. Although I wish I had the time and energy to go through and perfect everything, for a first attempt I am satisfied. I chose a pretty sweet music track to play over the top from one of my favorite buskers in Melbourne, a band called Santos. Hopefully this is enough to get me over the mark and to enable me with the required skills to continue onto the second assignment.

Thanks for viewing my work.
